Apa itu Future Perfect Continuous Tense?

Future Perfect Continuous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan dan menekankan suatu tindakan/peristiwa yang berlangsung sampai (sebelum) suatu titik waktu atau tindakan/peristiwa lain pada masa depan.

Rumus Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Kalimat positif – Future Perfect Continuous Tense

S + will + have + been + V-ing + … *will= ‘ll

Contoh:

I think when we get there, Peter will have been cooking since 3pm.  

(Saya pikir ketika kita sampai di sana, Peter akan sudah memasak sejak jam 3 sore.) 

She’ll have been working for that company for 5 years by the time you start working there. 

(Dia akan bekerja di perusahaan itu selama 5 tahun pada saat Anda mulai bekerja di sana.)

Kalimat negatif – Future Perfect Continuous Tense

S + will + NOT + have + been + V-ing + … *will not= won’t

Contoh:

I won’t have been working until 7 this evening. I always leave work at 5pm. 

(Saya tidak akan sudah bekerja sampai jam 7 malam ini. Saya selalu pulang kerja pada jam 5 sore.) 

Trust me! Our son won’t have been playing games for hours when we get home. He doesn’t like playing games that much.  

(Percayalah kepadaku! Putra kita tidak akan sudah bermain game selama berjam-jam saat kami tiba di rumah. Dia tidak terlalu suka bermain game.)

Kalimat tanya – Future Perfect Continuous Tense

A. Kalimat tanya dengan jawaban “Yes” atau “No”

Will + S + have + been + V-ing + …?

Yes, S + will. No, S + won’t.

Contoh:

Will our daughter have been working hard until she finds a better job?

(Apakah putri kami akan sudah bekerja keras sampai dia menemukan pekerjaan yang lebih baik?) 

Yes, she will. She’s very hard-working. 

(Ya. Dia pekerja keras)

Will that team have been discussing that problem for hours by the time our boss recommends a solution?

(Apakah tim tersebut akan sudah mendiskusikan masalah tersebut selama berjam-jam pada saat bos kita merekomendasikan sebuah solusi?)

Contoh:

What will have been making her unhealthy for many months until she goes to hospital next month?

(Apa yang akan sudah membuat dia merasa tidak sehat selama berbulan-bulan sampai dia pergi ke rumah sakit bulan depan?)

By the next appointment, who will have been leading the company to success since 2005?

(Pada penunjukan berikutnya, siapa yang akan memimpin perusahaan menuju kesuksesan sejak tahun 2005?)

Penggunaan Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Penggunaan atau fungsi Future Perfect Continuous Tense adalah digunakan untuk menyatakan dan menekankan suatu tindakan/peristiwa yang terjadi/berlangsung sampai (sebelum) suatu titik waktu atau tindakan/peristiwa lain pada masa depan.

Contoh:

Before his retirement next spring, my father will have been working for that company for nearly 29 years.

(Sebelum pensiun musim semi mendatang, ayah saya akan sudah bekerja di perusahaan itu selama hampir 29 tahun.)

Our son won’t have been reviewing his lesson for hours by the time we get home. He’s not a hard- working student. 

(Putra kami tidak akan sudah belajar selama berjam-jam saat kami tiba di rumah. Dia bukan siswa yang rajin.)

Ciri-ciri Future Perfect Continuous Tense

+ by/before + titik waktu di masa depan: sebelum…

by/ before lunch (sebelum makan siang), by/ before this evening (sebelum malam ini), by/ before their wedding (sebelum pernikahan mereka), dll.

+ at + titik waktu di masa lampau: pada…

at 9pm (pada jam 9 malam), at 10:30 am tomorrow (pada jam 10:30 besok), dll.

+ until + titik waktu di masa depan: sampai…

until 9 this afternoon (sampai jam 9 sore ini), until the next meeting (sampai pertemuan berikutnya), dll.

+ by the end of + kurun waktu akan berakhir pada masa depan: pada akhir…

by the end of this month (pada akhir bulan ini), by the end of the semester (pada akhir semester ini), by the end of this year (pada akhir tahun ini), dll.

+ when + klausa Present Simple Tense: ketika/saat…

when we get there (saat kita sampai di sana), when the meeting ends (saat rapat berakhir), dll.

+ before/ by the time + klausa Present Simple Tense: sebelum/pada saat…

before/ by the time we call them (sebelum/pada saat kita memanggil mereka), before/ by the time she goes home (sebelum/pada saat dia pulang), dll.

Catatan tentang Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Kata kerja berikut biasanya tidak digunakan dalam Continuous tenses pada umumnya dan Future Perfect Continuous Tense pada khususnya:

A. Kata kerja tentang emosi: cinta, benci, ingin, butuh, dll.

• like: suka
• love: cinta
• dislike: tidak suka
• hate: benci
• want: ingin
• prefer: lebih suka
• need: perlu

Catatan: Kata kerja ‘like’, ‘love’, ‘dislike’ dan ‘hate’ juga bisa digunakan di Future Perfect Continuous Tense ketika pembicara ingin menekankan kesementaraan emosi itu. Namun, ini bukan penggunaan yang populer.

B. Kata kerja tentang pemikiran, pendapat, dll.

• think: berpikir
• believe: percaya
• know: tahu 
• understand: mengerti
• remember: ingat
• forget: lupa
• realize: menyadari

Catatan: Ketika kata kerja ‘think’ berarti ‘berpikir tentang seseorang/sesuatu’ dan diikuti oleh ‘of/about’ + kata benda, ‘think’ dapat digunakan di Future Perfect Continuous Tense.

C. Kata kerja penghubung (linking verbs) dan kata kerja terkait dengan panca indra

• taste: berasa
• smell: berbau
• feel: merasa (This place feels cozy. – Tempat ini terasa nyaman.)
• sound: kedengarannya
• seem: tampaknya
• look: terlihat

Catatan: Ketika kata kerja di atas tidak berfungsi sebagai kata kerja penghubung dan tidak berfungsi sebagai kata kerja panca indra tetapi berfungsi sebagai kata kerja tindakan dan menjelaskan suatu tindakan, kata kerja tindakan tersebut dapat digunakan di Future Perfect Continuous Tenses dengan arti  sebagai berikut:

• taste: mencicipi
• smell: mencium
• feel: merasa 
• sound: mendengar
• look: melihat

D. Kata kerja pendek (menjelaskan tindakan yang tidak bisa berlangsung lama):

• start/ begin: mulai
• stop: berhenti
• end: berkahir
• continue: melanjutkan

E. Kata kerja penghubung ‘to be’

‘be’ sangat jarang digunakan di Continuous Tenses pada umumnya dan di Future Perfect Continuous Tenses pada khususnya.

Contoh: 

By the time we get home, our kid will have been sick for hours.

(Saat kita sampai di rumah, anak kita akan sudah sakit berjam-jam.)

Perbedaan Future Perfect Continuous Tense dan Future Perfect Tense

Perbedaan	– Menekankan suatu tindakan yang akan berlanjut/berlangsung dalam kurun waktu tertentu atau dari titik waktu tertentu ke titik waktu/tindakan lain di masa depan. – Kurun waktu di mana tindakan berlanjut/ berlangsung atau titik waktu di mana tindakan dimulai sering disebutkan dalam kalimat.	Menyatakan suatu tindakan yang akan selesai sebelum titik waktu tertentu atau tindakan lain di masa depan.
Contoh	When you move there, they will have been living there for 10 years. (Saat Anda pindah ke sana, mereka akan sudah tinggal di sana selama 10 tahun.)	When you call them, they will have sent the contract. (Saat Anda menelepon mereka, mereka akan sudah mengirimkan kontrak.)
